Co-operation between scholars from Bangladesh and CMI was institutionalised with an agreement between CMI and Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) in 1978, which facilitated scholarly exchange and guest researchers from Bagladesh for more thatn 20 years.
Today, there are 6 projects on Bangladesh at CMI. Among the 6 researchers working on Bangladesh, there are both economists and anthropologists, covering key areas such as poverty, economics, public sector, manufacturing sector, child labour, education and gender.
