Nobelkomiteens begrunnelse for å gi fredsprisen til Obama er tynn. Skulle man gi den til ham burde man ventet til Obamas ord blir omsatt til tydeligere resultater.

Holder det å ha gode hensikter for å få Nobels fredspris? Nei, sier Alfred Nobels testamente. Man skal ha virket for å oppnå resultater i fredelig retning. Barack Obama hadde virket som USAs president i under ni måneder da han ble tildelt verdens mest prestisjetunge pris.

Ingen president, ei heller av Obamas kaliber og av en global stormakt, kan forventes å oppnå konkrete resultater for fred i verden de første åtte-ni månedene i stillingen. Og Obama blir sittende i over tre år til, minst. Hvorfor har Nobelkomiteen hatt slikt hastverk med å gi ham fredsprisen?
