Seeking the truth about atrocities that have been committed during authoritarian rule or during a state of civil war is a key concern after the transition to more democratic rule and peace. This seminar - the first in a series of six about transitional justice - examines to what extent "the right to truth" is a human right and further how truth commissions can establish the "truth" about human rights violations and contribute to the future protection of human rights.
