Alessandra Fontana is a Brazilian journalist with an MA degree in International Relations and Development Studies from the University of East Anglia, in England. At CMI, she works as project coordinator for the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Center, focusing on political corruption and corruption in education. Previously, she coordinated a research project across Latin America (in Paraguay, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Guatemala) on transparency in political finance, for Transparency International.

Her earlier work experiences include research on financial mechanisms for international development for the European Network on Debt and Development, in Brussels, and reporting at the business and finance desk for Abril Publishing group, in São Paulo, Brazil. Her MA research studied increased levels of violence in Brazil, with a focus on the impact of economic liberalization policies during the country's transition period into democracy.
