The Many Faces of Political Islam in Sudan: Muslim Women's Activism for and against the State

Liv Tønnessen, Doctoral thesis, University of Bergen 2012

Parts of the opposition are more conservative than the Islamist state ever imagined

Parts of the opposition are more conservative than the Islamist state ever imagined. Tønnessen sees this as a reminder not to demonize the Sudanese state, whilst romanticizing the opposition.
