DESCRIPTION:Through the last fifty years Nepal has gone from a strong monarchy, via a parliamentarian constitutional monarchy, followed by a Maoist insurgency and revival of monarchic rule, to a multiparty (soon federal) republic. Annelies Ollieuz will present som findings from her fieldwork in a village near Biratnagar, in many ways the birthplace of modern democracy in Nepal.
