Munzoul A M Assal, assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Khartoum, Sudan, is visiting CMI. Assal participates in the CMI study Peacebuidling in the Sudan: Micro-macro issues. Assal received his PhD from the University of Bergen, where he wrote about Diaspora and Challenges of Home-Making for Somalis and Sudanese in Norway. To be published soon is Diaspora Within and Without Africa: Homogeneity, Heterogeneity, Dynamism.

Solheim was the chief Norwegian peace envoy to Sri Lanka before he became a Minister last year. He has continued his commitment to the peaceprocess in Sri Lanka in his new position. Now, he is also responsible for following up Norway's commitments to the peace process in Sudan.
