Last week three of the EFFEXT team travelled to Stockholm to participate in a workshop organised by Nordforsk. The mid-term project workshop aimed to provide an arena for sharing knowledge and learning experiences between the seven projects that were funded by the Nordforsk call in 2020.

Each of the seven projects shared their mid-term findings and provided new insights into research on migration and integration.

The focus of the workshop lay on research impact and communication of findings from different projects. External participants from the Danish Refugee Council Youth (DFUNK), Bergen Municipality, and the Norwegian Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion reflected on how they use academic research in their work and the obstacles they encounter in engaging with research. The panellists emphasised the importance of early research collaboration and in making the research readily available and easy to digest for busy policy makers.

Overall, the workshop provided a great venue for sharing experiences of working on research projects and stimulated networking and potential future research collaborations. Having space to discuss challenges faced within research, across different projects, facilitated interesting discussions on our shared experiences.
