New initiative on climate financing

CMI researcher Ottar Mæstad has been appointed member of a new Norwegian expert committee on climate financing.

The members of the newly established committee are to expand the horizon when it comes to innovative and new sources for climate financing. The objective is to bring the discussion on how to achieve the goals of the Paris agreement further. How Norway and the international society can mobilize the necessary funding is a central point of debate.

The new committee is initiated by the biggest NGOs in Norway; the Norwegian Church Aid, The Norwegian People’s Aid, the Norwegian Refugee Council, Save the Children, Caritas Norway, and the Norwegian Red Cross.  The expert committee is led by Vidar Helgesen, former Minister of climate and environment. He is joined by experts on economy, renewable energy, aid and policies, among them Ottar Mæstad, senior researcher at CMI.
