CMI awarded three new RCN projects

We are very excited to have been granted funding by the Research Council of Norway for three new projects. These projects illustrate the span of global challenges that we address, from climate change adaptation to global health.

Two of the three projects are responses to the Research Council call for collaborative projects to meet societal and industry-related challenges (KSP): ‘Sustainable land use through migration: a pathway for climate change adaptation’, led by senior researcher Cathrine Talleraas, and ‘In search of sustainability: Implementation of community financing mechanisms to accelerate reductions in maternal and newborn mortality’, with senior researcher Peter Hangoma in the lead.

CMI has also previously had success in securing funding from KSP calls. The purpose of KSPs is to encourage collaboration between researchers and relevant actors from society and the industry sector to develop new knowledge and build research expertise that addresses important societal challenges.

Our third project from this round is a Welfare, culture and society project (VAM): ‘Attachment as mode of regulation: migrant inclusion in the welfare state’ led by senior researcher Jessica Schultz.

The purpose of VAM projects is to provide knowledge that helps address and manage key societal challenges in the fields of welfare, work, culture and media.

All three projects have received around 12 million NOK in funding.

Espen Villanger, director at CMI, is thrilled about the new RCN projects.

-These are important, long-term projects for CMI. I am proud of our researchers and the hard work they put into building strong, well-founded research projects. This result shows that we are highly competitive in securing external funding.
