SNAC at the Nordic Society for Middle Eastern Studies conference
The SNAC-team were part of the bi-annual conference of the Nordic Society for Middle Eastern Studies hosted by the University of Oslo. The conference offered a wide number of panels and discussions on what moves in the MENA region, and critical debate about the state of the field, including important interventions on academic freedom, digital authoritarianism and the impact of conceptual frameworks. The SNAC-cluster on Migration organized a panel on “Sudan: From Revolution Through War, the Complexity of Life on the Edge(s)”, which included papers on the ideological shifts in Sudan post-revolution, through the outbreak of conlict and resulting displacement, into the conceptual dynamics of war.
The team from Bergen were privileged to join with colleagues travelling to Oslo from Cairo and Paris, a particular thanks to Aroob Alfaki and Randa Gindeel for representing respectively University of Khartoum and Ahfad University for Women.
