Dr Eirik G. Jansen is a social anthropologist and former staff member of CMI. His research has mainly focused on natural resource management in traditional fisheries in East Africa and land issues in Bangladesh. Dr Jansen's work on Bangladesh and Lake Victoria is widely cited. Currently, he is a civil servant in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oslo. During the period 2003-2007, he worked as a counsellor at the Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania, where he was the desk officer responsible for the Norwegian supported ‘Management of Natural Resources Programme'. His presentation will bring concrete lessons on managing aid ‘from the inside'.
