This project is designed to support the development of an active research practice in sociology and social anthropology at Addis Ababa University, by providing research facilities to staff and research students who are expected to concentrate joint efforts on a limited number of research foci. Interdisciplinary collaboration will be encouraged. Initially research will be organised with two focal points that represent research interest among the staff at the collaborating Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology. One focal point involves resource tenure in the pastoral lowlands of Ethiopia, while the other one will organise research on various social issues relating HIV/AIDS.
