Fredrik Gertten's new documentary Breaking Social tackles the subject of global kleptocracy. An assassinated journalist in Malta, shady firms who provide the ultra wealthy with multiple passports, and grotesque examples of economic disparity in Chile are all results of the economic elite's refusal to abide by the social contract.

Norway, with its own ongoing political conflict of interest affairs, must, as all other countries, work towards sustainable, global solutions to problems such as those set out in the film. In this talk, researchers at University of Bergen's GRIP and Chr. Michelsen Institute's U4 Center discussed how we can move towards positive change, through anti-corruption initiatives, reducing inequality, and creating a new social contract.
