Master`s student in comparative politics focusing on the practice of Humanitarian Diplomacy of NGO`s such as the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Andrea Furuhovde is a student at the master`s program in Comparative Politics at the University of Bergen and holds a bachelor’s degree in the same program. She is currently writing her master’s thesis on the topic of Humanitarian Diplomacy, researching how the practice of humanitarian diplomacy is influenced by political dimensions within a conflict zone, with specific focus non-governmental organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross.
In between her studies, she has been an active member of the Norwegian Red Cross both as a volunteer and an employee. Between 2019-2020 she worked as a Red Cross Youth Delegate deployed in Colombia, working with youth volunteers to meet the needs of their communities. Last year she supported the Norwegian Red Cross Disaster Risk Management Unit as co-editor of the digital handbook for Red Cross field hospitals.
Next to writing her masters, she is currently working as a communications assistant at CMI.
