Peter Binyaruka

PhD Candidate

Economist with a research focus on health financing, equity and inequalities, and impact evaluations.

Binyaruka is part of the team which evaluates the Results-Based Financing (PBF) program (or Pay-for-Performance –P4P) in Tanzania. His involvement started from the evaluation of the P4P pilot until now. In Tanzania, he is affiliated with the Ifakara Health Institute (IHI). Before joining IHI, he worked on program evaluations and teaching econometrics at Ardhi university in Tanzania. 

Currently, Binyaruka is a PhD candidate at the University of Bergen, Norway, through the Centre for International Health (CIH). Binyaruka's PhD work is focusing on understanding the supply-side and demand-side heterogeneity of the P4P programme in Tanzania. Specifically, he seeks to know which subgroups of facilities and population are really benefiting the P4P programme, and identify all important implications to inequalities.

Binyaruka also holds a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
