In Africa, women's quotas are becoming increasingly common, both in authoritarian and democratic regimes. Policymakers are frequently promoting the inclusion of women in decision-making bodies. Yet there is still scant knowledge of the intended and unintended consequences of women's representation. This seminar scrutinizes the relationship between quota policies and regime type.
