Geir O. Pedersen will in light of his own experiences as a diplomat and as previous Personal Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Lebanon, reflect on the relevance of knowledge and research for Norwegian foreign policy. Pedersen will in his lecture address the possibilities and challenges of partnerships between research institutions and institutions where foreign policy is formulated. He will base his reflections on Norwegian involvement as facilitator in peace-processes and also the role of the UN in the Middle East.

Geir O. Pedersen is Director General for the Department for UN, peace and humanitarian affairs in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
