Dr. Eirik G. Jansen was a Research Fellow at CMI from 1975 to 1987. During this period he worked mainly on issues related to rural Bangladesh. He was a visiting Research Fellow at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies from 1976 to 1978. His PhD thesis is named ‘Rural Bangladesh: Competition for Scarce Resources' was published by Norwegian University Press in 1986 and University Press Limited, Dhaka, 1987.

In 2010 and 2011 Dr. Jansen returned to the village he studied in the late 1970s and he is currently conducting a restudy of the village. Read more about Dr. Jansen's study in a recent article in the Daily Star
