China's Africa policy has major implications for development on the African continent. It introduces new opportunities, new challenges and new imponderables. These issues have been explored in a major new CMI report which also sought to identify the main implications for Norwegian foreign and development policies.

Professor He Wenping, Director of the African Studies Division of the The Institue of West-Asian and and African Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences is currently visting Norway and will provide an overview of the evolving Chinese Africa policy. Professor He has a Ph.D. in international relations from Peking University and has published externsively on African democratisation and African international relations, particularly on Chinese-African relations. She is the Secretary General of the Chinese Asian & African Research Society and Standing Member of the Research Society for African problems. She is also a frequent commentator on China's Africa policy in Chinese as well as in international media.
