ADAPT at the IMISCOE Conference 2026
In July, ADAPT joined forces with the GENDEREDCLIMATEMIG project for a panel at the IMISCOE Annual Conference in Girona, Spain. The panel, “From policies to communities and back: bringing together insights into policy-making and localized migration experiences around climate-related migrations,” was chaired by Cathrine Talleraas (CMI) and Nina Sahraoui (Paris Saclay University/Printemps, CNRS). Bringing together research from several geographical contexts, the panel explored connections between the governance of climate-related migration and how environmental change shapes migration experiences at the community and individual levels.
ADAPT researchers Hakimu Sseviiri, Hanna Geschewski and Cathrine Talleraas presented the project and two works in progress: one examining how climate-related migration is governed in Uganda, including emerging trends, challenges and opportunities, and another developing an analytical framework for understanding how migration may shape climate-adaptive land use.The conference was also a valuable opportunity for the ADAPT team to meet and develop ideas together, and to connect with other researchers working at the intersection of migration, climate and environmental change.
Both papers are being further developed – stay tuned for updates.
