World food prices are fluctuating, and have on average increased during the last years. What shall we expect in the long run? Will technological change, and thus food supply, catch up with the increasing demand that comes from increasing population and changing food habits due to increasing incomes? History shows that food supply has adjusted to food demand as population and incomes grow, but we have no guarantee for the future. And even if global supply follows demand in the long run we may expect local food deficits due to market inefficiencies. In this CMI seminar we have asked economist Stein T. Holden from UMB and geographer Peter Andersen from UoB to discuss these issues with a focus on local knowledge and technological opportunities.

There will be two 30 minutes presentations and 30 minutes discussion.
