Puppets or Trojan Horses? Instrumentalisation of traditional authorities in Angola and Mozambique

This article analyses comparatively the process of political integration of traditional authorities within the state machinery in Angola and Mozmabique. There have been various attempts imposed by both States to abolish or manipulate traditional authorities, the question before us is what is happening today: are the traditional authorities puppets or Trojan Horses? Or both?
