In her book "International Aid and the Making of a Better World," Rosalind Eyben proposes, through her personal experience, to reflect critically on the practices of aid and international cooperation. The wording of the title suggests that the sole purpose of international cooperation is to improve the world. As a person from a country that receives [development] aid, my understanding is that international aid does not always lead to a better world or even has that intention. Instead, it is felt as an imposition of perverse and insensitive dynamics to the perspectives of those whom it proposes to help. As such, it was with suspicion that I began reading this work, fearing an excess of naivitë on the part of the author. (translated extract, original in Portuguese)
