Hang Zhou

Post Doctoral Researcher

Hang Zhou is a post-doctoral researcher in the 'Transoceanic Fishers: Multiple Mobilities in and out of the South China Sea' research project funded by the European Research Council (ERC). 

Hang Zhou obtained his PhD in politics and international studies at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. His PhD thesis was shortlisted for the 2022 Audrey Richards Best Doctoral Thesis Prize of the UK African Studies Association. He received his master’s degrees in peace and conflict studies from Uppsala University and in development studies from EHESS-Paris. His main research interest includes South-South Cooperation, Africa-China relations, Global China, state-building & peacekeeping in Africa, infrastructure, and maritime anthropology.
