CMI awarded funding for new RCN project
We are excited to have been granted funding by the Norwegian Research Council for a new project exploring how the Eritrean government's political activities and online tactics affect diaspora communities in Europe, particularly in Norway and Sweden.
The research team will be led by Lovise Aalen, and will include Munzoul Assal, Matthew Gichohi, Pauline Lemaire, and Jessica Schultz. The team will also include NORCE's Lisa-Marie Selvik, currently at WZB/Berlin.
The team aims to explore the Eritrean regime's disinformation tactics, along with the response of those within the diaspora, and the impact on European democracies.
The project will run alongside the Horizon Europe-funded project – ARM – which explores transnational information suppression, focusing on China, Russia, Ethiopia, and Rwanda.
We hope that this research will contribute to broader discussions on protecting fundamental rights and promoting democratic participation in immigrant communities.
