The Centre fo Development and the Environment (SUM) is an interdisciplinary research centre established with a mandate to conduct, coordinate, and stimulate research on topics related to development and environment, and also to provide teaching and knowledge dissemination in these fields.

The evaluation committee finds that SUM compares reasonably well with corresponding institutions in terms of research productivity. When it comes to impact, however, SUM semms to be less competitive.
