En verden på flukt

Ifølge CMI-forsker Lovise Aalen er det nå krisestemning i det østlige Sudan: – Nå har vi også en stor strøm av nye flyktninger fra Tigray som flykter over grensen til Sudan. Det skaper en økende byrde på lokale og nasjonale myndigheter i Sudan. Dette kommer på toppen av en lang historie med flyktningstrømmer fra både Etiopia og Eritrea til det østlige Sudan, sier Aalen. Denne nye bølgen forplanter seg videre, ved at flyktningene drar via Khartoum videre til Libya og over Middelhavet. – Det er en enda mer sårbar situasjon i alle disse tre landene i 2021. Mye på grunn av krigen i Tigray-provinsen i Nord-Etiopia, som brøt ut i november 2020. Denne har vidtrekkende konsekvenser for alle de tre landene. Eritrea har allerede hatt et høyt antall flyktninger i mange år, der mange har flyktet over grensen til Nord-Etiopia og blitt boende i flyktningleirer der eller flyktet videre til Sudan, sier Aalen.
